7th Framework Programme
Rannis coordinates and promotes Icelandic participation in the EU's 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
FP7 consists of four main pillars; Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities, which are then divided into 19 sub-programmes, each with its own work programme and schedule. In Iceland, there are appointed National Contact Points for each of these programmes.
The structure of FP7 is as follows:
COOPERATION
Transnational research collaboration in and outside the EU in 10 thematic areas corresponding to the most important knowledge and technology areas in Europe. These areas are the following:
- Health
- Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Biotechnology
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Nanoscience, nanotechnology, materials and new production
- Environment (including climate change)
- Energy
- Transport (including aeronautics)
- Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities
- Space
- Security
IDEAS
European Research Council (ERC grants)
PEOPLE - Marie Curie Mobility Actions
Schemes for researcher training, career development and researcher mobility. They are implemented through the MCA programme by means of three grant schemes: Researcher training, Career development, and Collaboration between industry and academia.
