The Nordic Top-Level Research Initiative (TRI): Collaboration Projects Green Growth in an Era of Climate Change

NordForsk has opened a call for proposals, within its Top-Level Research Initiative, for Collaboration Projects Green Growth in an Era of Climate Change.

The present call invites high quality and innovative research proposals, which combine a Green Growth perspective with the aims of the two TRI sub-programmes "Effect Studies and Adaptation to Climate Change" and "Interaction between Climate Change and the Cryosphere".
The Nordic Top-Level Research Initiative (TRI) is the largest Nordic-funded research programme to date within the fields of climate, energy and the environment. The initiative was launched by the Nordic Prime Ministers in 2008,and is supported by national institutions and agencies. The initiative promotes research and innovation at the highest level. The overall aim of the TRI is to address major environmental,climate and energy challenges, with a view to societal relevance and implications as well as economic growth.
The aim of the present call is to support the Nordic societies in developing new and sustainable solutions fostering green growth through:
- Building further on strengths achieved within Nordic research cooperation on Climate, Energy and the Environment
- Strengthening the cooperation between the various themes under the TRI
- Consolidating the interaction between society, academia and industry within these fields
Thematic framework
Applicants are welcome to submit proposals within this broad thematic framework, which incorporates the following mandatory components of cooperation:
- Relevance to Green Growth (as referred to in the 2011 report by the Nordic Prime Ministers' Working Group for Green Growth. Priority item number 2, "Working together on Education, Training and research for Green Growth", is of particular relevance)
- Involvement of users of knowledge, including relevant industrial sectors
- Synergies with and links to relevant ongoing research projects/ initiatives in the Nordic countries
- Projects funded should take a multidisciplinary approach, and foster cooperation between natural sciences and humanities/ social sciences
- Projects funded should support open access to scientific data and tools
Who can apply?
The call is open to international consortia of researchers and research groups from various sectors, including institutions of higher education, e.g., universities and other research institutions, public or private enterprises, and other organisations with a strong research focus.The consortium must involve partners from at least three Nordic countries.
