Styrking á rafsegulvökvum með nanoögnum - verkefni lokið í Rannsóknasjóði
Verkefnið fjallar um hönnun rafsegulvökva fyrir gervihnjálið með stýranlega stífni. Stífninni er stýrt í rauntíma með breytilegu segulsviði sem vinnur á rafsegulvökva. Mikilvægt er að búnaður af þessu tagi sé sem léttastur en hafi jafnframt breitt vinnusvið. Meginmarkmið þessa verkefnis var að rannsaka heppilegustu samsetningu rafsegulvökva til að ná þessu markmiði, það er að stífni vökvans sé sem minnst þegar segulsviðs nýtur ekki við en að stífnin sé sem mest við það hámarkssegulsvið sem hægt er að framkalla í hnénu.

Ýmsar samsetningar vökva með breytilegum stærðum og magni smásærra agna voru framleiddar og eiginleikar þeirra rannsakaðir. Jafnframt var unnið að því markmiði að auka segulsviðið sem unnið getur á vökvann. Var það gert með því að búa til reiknilíkön af segulrás hnésins og besta breytur s.s. lögun segulrásar, vökvahólfs og segulmögnunarspólu. Niðurstöður verkefnisins eru nýir rafsegulvökvar og breytt hönnun hnés sem hafa þegar nýst í framleiðslu hjá Össuri hf. Einnig hafa niðurstöður verkefnisins verið birtar í sex alþjóðlegum tímaritsgreinum, tólf alþjóðlegum ráðstefnugreinum, í doktorsritgerð og tveim meistararitgerðum.
