Coherent population trapping as a probe of non-Markovian decay - verkefni lokið
Fréttatilkynning verkefnisstjóra
Preliminary results indicate that non-Markovian properties of the phonon bath do affect the absorption properties of the CPT system.
The main goal of the project was to develop a theoretical framework to extract signatures of non-Markovian dynamics in quantum systems from optical properties, e.g. fluorescence spectra.

The first result was to provide a general formalism that accounted for non-Markovian properties to describe the fluorescence spectra from a general quantum systems. We applied the formalism to a driven two level system coupled to a phonon bath and observed distinctive signatures of non-Markovian properties in the fluorescence spectra. We hope that this new effect may be observable in experiments. We also applied our theoretical formalism to study absorption in coherent population trapping (CPT) systems. Preliminary results indicate that non-Markovian properties of the phonon bath do affect the absorption properties of the CPT system. This may offer a new way to probe non-Markovian dynamics in CPT systems. This work has been presented at 3 international conference and workshops and two manuscript are being prepared.
