The study shows that quantum interference effects, like the Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, can be magnified or diminished by the cavity photons.

The project: „Light and transport in electronic systems on  the nanoscale'“ was finished by the end of 2013. In the project the principal investigator together with students and collaborators modeled time-dependent transport of electrons through nanosystems in photon cavities.

The mutual Coulomb interaction of the electrons and their interaction with the  photons were treated numerically exactly in a truncated many-body Fock-space. The study shows that quantum interference effects, like the Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, can be magnified or diminished by the cavity photons. The transport of electrons can be assisted or inhibited by cavity photons, depending on their initial number, energy and polarization. Quantum gate operations can be performed in a double waveguide system with a coupling window in a photon cavity. Their type can be controlled by the photon number and their polarization, and the size of the coupling window.
