The Research Fund for Graduate Studies merges with the Research Fund

15.1.2013

On December 20th 2012 the Icelandic parliament approved a revision of Act no. 3/2003 on public support for scientific research, which includes a merger of the Icelandic Research fund for Graduate Students with The Icelandic Research Fund.   A large part of awarded grants from the Icelandic Research Fund is used to pay salaries and the greatest proportion goes to graduate students. Unification of the funds will lead to greater continuity and a clearer overview of funding to students in research-based education.

Students who have received grants from the Student Research Fund prior to Desember 2012, retain the rights and obligations according to the previous funding program.

Further information on arrangements for grants to doctoral candidates will be published at the end of February.
